Being healthy resources us to move forward.

Discipline is no fun. Discipline is doing the small things over and over again to achieve your goals. I could never be a drummer. A drummer has to do the same thing over and over again. Exactly the same way every time. The drummer in a band has to be the most disciplined person. If you have a bad drummer you have a bad band. So many times the drummer is the difference between a great band and an average band. It is the same way for our spiritual life. Anyone can follow Jesus. Everyone is welcome to turn from their sin a start a relationship with Jesus. His sacrifice for us is purely a gift with no strings attached.

But we can position ourselves in way so that we are prepared to be used by God. This takes discipline. To study the Bible. To pray. To have people in our life who will walk alongside us. It takes discipline to even show up. It takes discipline to do the right thing even when no one is watching. We see Lebron James or Kevin Durrant in the NBA make amazing game winning shots and they make it look so easy. You know why? They have taken that same shot thousands of times. The Bible talks about working out our faith. To take the shots when no one is looking. To work hard to show the results of your faith. For you to be a healthy follow of Jesus it takes discipline to make a difference.

12 Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. 16 Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. 17 But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God,[e] just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy. 18 Yes, you should rejoice, and I will share your joy. -Philippians 2:12-18
