I don’t know what it is for you, but for me it is an iced vanilla latte. Regardless of the time, how my day is going, or what I’m dealing with, when that smooth, sweet flavor hits my lips, everything is right in the world. Wouldn’t it be great to have that feeling all the time? The Bible says it is!
My child, eat honey, for it is good,
and the honeycomb is sweet to the taste.
In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul.
If you find it, you will have a bright future,
and your hopes will not be cut short. – Proverbs 24:13-14
As sweet as honey (or an iced vanilla latte) is, it’s effects are fleeting. With the last sip, reality sets in, and the worries of life return. But Solomon tells us that wisdom is just as sweet, if not sweeter. Wisdom has the power to sweeten your soul and lead you into a bright future. And the best part? It’s free! Solomon was one of the wisest men ever to live, but do you know where he got his wisdom? In I Kings, God asked Solomon what he wanted. Solomon could have asked for anything, but he asked God for wisdom. And God gave it to him!
God wants to give us wisdom, all we have to do is ask for it! Ask God today to open your eyes and give you the gift of wisdom. Before you know it, you’ll have that iced vanilla latte feeling on a whole new level!
