How you live represents what you live for.
Some people have the ability to move on from their past quickly. But for most people, their past keeps them locked in a prison they have created for themselves. If it was bad choices, toxic relationships, or just things have happened in the past, these things keep them from reaching their full potential. Maybe you have things like this? If you do, you know what would be awesome. A fresh start!
You need it, I need it, we all need it. That is the beauty of each new day. I have worked for the past 10 years or so to develop the ability to give myself a fresh start. The ability to forgive myself, receive God’s forgiveness and move on. It didn’t happen over night. It has taken me years to realize that it does me no good to continue beating myself up because of something I did the day before. I still have to face the consequences of my choices, but it changes the way I live. At the end of the day the only thing that matters to me is the status of my relationship with Jesus.
Everything else in my life flows from my relationship with Jesus, because I live for Jesus. I am not perfect! I don’t have it all figured out! I am a mess sometimes! I am broken but I have been forgiven by the creator of the universe! Because of Jesus dying on the cross for my sins and coming back to life and destroying death I get a fresh start. And you do too! Don’t you want a fresh start? Start trying to wake up every day with a fresh perspective. Live your life knowing God is not out to get you but He is FOR you!
Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. – Colossians 3:1-4
