How you live represents what you live for.
It is so fun to watch high school kids try to find themselves. Sometimes it happens under the surface and you very rarely get to see the changes happening in them. Other times it is a drastic change. From the clothes they wear to the people they hang out with to the color of their hair. The same things happen with adults. I have a friend that I had not seen in a couple years and we connected on Facebook recently. Lets just say he looked completely different. A lot less hair. A giant beard. He now has a whole new look. I am sure you have similar stories. It’s the same thing for us when we start following Jesus. It may not happen instantly but there should be something different about you that people see.
When you start following Jesus you put on a whole new look because you no longer just represent yourself, you represent Jesus. You put on His characteristics and put off your old way of life. In Colossians, it talks about this transformation and talks about how you clothe yourself. It says to put on a new set of clothes. A new style. A new look. A new way of life.
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. – Colossians 3:12-15
If you live like this people will notice. This is not normal. It’s not normal to be kind, humble, gentle, and patient. If you have tried you know it takes supernatural power to live this kind of life. It takes letting Jesus rule your life! How you live represents what you live for.Do people notice a difference in your life?
