Rest prepares you to be spiritually fit.
One of the most mind blowing things to me about God is that He wants a relationship with us. The Creator of the universe, the King of kings, the beginning and the end cares about us. Amazing! God did put the world in motion and then step away and leave it for us to figure out. He wants us to be in an intimate relationship with Him. He does not need us. He is not lonely and needy. He loves His creation and wants to be connected to us.
“Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.” Matthew 6:6 MSG
Go and be with God. Put aside any fake images of yourself and be completely real with God. He already knows everything about you. Focus your attention on knowing God and He will reveal Himself to you. Jesus made it a priority to be alone.
When you are completely alone it helps you examine the core of who you are. You can push aside anything going on in your life and really work through your faith. It is easy to turn on the tv, look at our phones, listen to music, or whatever other distraction we have, but these distractions keep us from really evaluating our heart and listening to God speak.
Do like Jesus did. Find a quiet, secluded place and practice your faith alone. Listen for God to speak to you in a still small voice. For you to be an effective follower of Jesus you must spend time alone with God.
