Eating fuels us to be spiritually fit.
I have been learning a lot about food lately. I have some friends who are trying to change the way they eat, and maybe one day I will get on board with them and change what I eat… But for now I am just learning from them. One of the most interesting things I have learned is that most of our food is processed. Which does not sound bad until you learn exactly what that word means. Processed in the food world means that something has been added to the food to affect it in a variety of ways. One popular processed food is shredded cheese. In most cases, shredded cheese is not just cheese. They add something to it to keep the cheese from sticking together. In some processing plants they add wood pulp. Yep, gross! Adding one little ingredient can quickly change something good for you into something not good for you.
The Bible is the same way. Take something out of context or twist the meaning of a word to say what you want it to say and you are suddenly ingesting something that is not entirely true. You are getting the processed version of God’s word. This is why it is so important for you to read the Bible on your own. If you only listen to what other people tell you about the Bible, then you don’t truly know for yourself what it says. To really know what the Bible says, you need to spend time each day reading the Word. The Bible has the power to help you know right from wrong, live out your faith, and do the work God has for you. You need the all-natural Word of God each day to fuel you.
For us to grow spiritually we need a steady diet of God’s word. Are you feeding yourself? Is it the all-natural word of God? Let God’s word fuel you today.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
